I think anyone who has been withit has a long list of shows and owners who shouldn't be worked for.It seems there are no showmen anymore.... just a bunch of 40 milers who buy afew rides or an entire showand start calling themselves carnys. Most of them seem to have no class or even any appreication for the business they are in. Im soon to be 49 and have been in and out of this business since I was seventeen. I'm always intrigued when themed restaurants attempt to name menu items after characters. Allow me to stray from circus for a moment to illustrate one of the better examples I've come across. These items come from Maude's Classic Cafe in Gainesville, Florida, one of my personal favorites:

The greatest show in South Shore is coming to town.

The International Independent Showmen's Association will host its 28th annual Charity Circus on Saturday, with three performances at 1, 4 and 7 p.m. Elephants, aerialists, clowns and more will perform under the Big Top at 6915 Riverview Drive.

Each two-hour show promises lots of excitement for the young and young at heart, said ringmaster Ward Hall.
