SUGGESTIONS ON HOW SITE COULD BE IMPROVED

There is a trend here now to add as much as can be added as fast as it can be added. I find most of what is here now difficult to find and uninteresting for the most. I feel that is because I, as most others here, are not computer geeks and tend to shy away from things online that are complicated. One example is that now anything politcal is only found by going into discussions, hitting the view all button, then going to the bottom of the page, hitting the 2nd page button, & scrolling down to where you finally reach where you want to go. Once you get there, you find there has been little activity where there was once lots. Now I know there is interest in that arena from the heated & lively debates that once occurred there, so can only assume the reason is that it takes too much effort now.

Another area I think is dangerous is the Carny Dating section. My reasoning is that it seems to open the members up to being taken advantage of by con artists or worse. I keep rememboring the stories about men & women losing savings because of people they met online who were not what they seemed. I also recall some stories of women being raped or worse yet killed by strangers met in online chat rooms. Don'y know about you Tom or Marcus, but I wouldn't want to be the ones responsible for any new horror stories.

I'm sure others here also have suggestions on how to improve the site. This discussion is for you to voice them for the powers that be to view.

I use too..but after an experience last year,I won't. With a message board,you can think before you post,reread it and see if you want to make friends or enemies,sounds logical to me..

That's kinda the way I feel too, Gene. There's enough complications in our lives without adding more. I try the chat room too, Pete, but either there's nobody there or I'm one of those "Trollboys" that nobody wants to talk to. Never have much luck there. I really lean more toward debates on critical issues that face us. Like to play the Devil's Advocate & take the side less popular. Feel that needs to be explored also.

OK. I will answer xKizarney first two points and welcome all other suggestions.
You are right, of course. However, the changes that are happening AND are coming are not all in our control.
However, that said, we have been trying to add more information generic to the outdoor amusement business industry. But I can see that it is messing up the page, so we may have to take a 2nd look on how to create a separate area that is just THE MAGAZINE, so to speak, where all the articles are listed. I am going to look at that today. We will definitely leave the photos, the activity block and the a/v chat on the front page. And naturally, the advertisers and supporters ads. It is a good suggestion and I will look at what I can do.

As to the political conversations mentioned. Well, in the activity block each comment or discussion started is listed with a small sampling of the first post, which is enough I believe for the front page. As to the amount of activity, I accept the blame for lack of activity...but there are two reasons. One my partner has pointed out that as the network creator I should tone down my political arguments, since they do not reflect every moderator and administrator on the site and the 2nd reason being that the issues today have changed. They are not political, they are practical. Politics are not important right now, in my view of things. What is important is letting the new administration have some time to make a stab at saving America. Now all that said, I will post a diatribe against Cheney later today. hehe.

As to carny dating. I started that as a joke and big surprise...people did not laugh. I guess sex and love is not a laughing matter (you see...at my age, it is). They are using it and there seems to be no complaints or problems. Actually this network page is basically the same thing with the same function.

To conclude, I would like to hear more suggestions with the understanding that we do have constraints as to design and access to code. And please guys. Do not ask me to get rid of ANYBODY. We need to bring people into this network for it to succeed. Getting rid of somebody is not the answer, because next week, somebody will want to get rid of you.

Good answers all except for the practical/political crap. This Administration is not saving anything but their standards of living at our expense. Everytime Obama opens his mouth, the market drops another point. Each time Biden opens his, we realize there is an idiot in as V.P. That staggering debt left by Bush is now 4 times greater in only 1 month.
I especially agree about the "Fool". There is too much fun to be had at his expense to not allow him to remain.

Changes are fine but the part about banning someone because you do not like him is wrong i found that out the hard way .me and this person had our differences to and it got downright ugly.so as many others i figured i,d go elsewhere to get away from this problem,well it didnt work becuse the people who were so called troll bashers here have became the trolls over there these few guys i say that are now trolls there were suppposive great friends of mine called me every other day at home exchanged email the whole works .well because we didnt agree upon certain things they started pulling topics in my group and really started to be back biters.i have personally been friends with Tom and Marcus for many years and we have had our differences too ,but i have never ever had anything i have had posted pulled here even though the mods maynot have agreed with them.and as far as the troll you guys want to desolve he is his own person and has his own beliefs we may not agree but who are we he also does post alot of important news and information for the site .so with that i say live with it because hes not leaving as well as im not if you dont like him just ask him not to bother you and this im sure tom marcus and don will agree with because as tom said we do not want anyone to leave even if we do not agree with all- Thanks for the awakening Dutch and Joe !!!!????
